3. How to use hydroxyethyl cellulose in latex paint

Premixing: Slowly add HEC to cold water and premix to prevent agglomeration.
Stirring: Stir with a high-speed stirrer for 30 minutes to 1 hour to ensure that HEC is completely dissolved.
Soaking: Let the solution stand for several hours to 24 hours until HEC is fully swollen to form a uniform glue solution.
Preparing latex paint
In the production process of latex paint, HEC solution is usually added in the preparation stage. The general process is as follows:
Disperse pigments and fillers: In the dispersion stage, disperse the pigments and fillers in a certain amount of water, add an appropriate amount of dispersant, and disperse at high speed until the pigments and fillers are fully dispersed.
Add HEC solution: Slowly add the pre-prepared HEC solution under low-speed stirring to ensure uniform mixing.

Precautions
When using HEC, the following points should be noted:
Dissolution temperature: HEC is easy to dissolve in cold water, but too high a temperature will cause the dissolution rate to be too fast, forming agglomerates, affecting the use effect.
Stirring speed: During premixing and stirring, the speed should not be too fast to prevent excessive bubbles.
Storage conditions: HEC solution should be prepared before use to avoid long-term storage to prevent biodegradation and viscosity reduction.
